Playfoot (a minor), R (on the application of) v Millais School - High Court (Administrative) 16.7.07

The High Cout has ruled against the schoolgirl, Lydia Playfoot, who argued that she should be allowed to wear a "purity ring" at school. Wearing jewellery contravened school rules but she argued that the purity ring was a "religious artefact" and so was permitted by the school rules. The Court found that she was under no obligation by reason of her religious beliefs to wear the ring (and she did not suggest that she was so obliged).
