Kiiski (Social policy) - pregnancy and child care leave - ECJ Case C-116/06, 20.9.07
Ms Kiiski, a teacher in Finland, applied to take her entitlement to child-care leave. National law provided that once the dates were agreed they could only be altered "on unforeseeable and justified grounds". Such grounds expressly excluded pregnancy. On becoming pregnant Ms Kiiski sought to alter her child-care leave and her principal refused.
