Bloxham v Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer - age discrimination justified - London Central ET 9.10.07

The Central London Employment Tribunal has dismissed the age discrimination claim brought by ex-Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer partner Peter Bloxham against his former firm. The tribunal ruled on 9th October 2007 that Freshfields' pension fund arrangements were discriminatory within the meaning of the Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006 but, vitally, that in all the circumstances the arrangements were justified as a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim. Accordingly the tribunal dismissed Mr Bloxham's claim.
