Steadman-Byrne v. Amjad - Bias - Court of Appeal 27.6.07
Not an employment case but worthy of note for its clear guidance on bias.
The claimants gave their evidence in a personal injury case. Then, in chambers, the judge stated that he believed the claimants and therefore "he did not see how the defendants could win". He went on to hear the defendant's case and found in favour of the claimants. Mr Steadman-Byrne, the defendant, appealed - succesfully.
