Laval v Svenska - it is unlawful for a trade union to take action to compel firms supplying workers from one EU country to another to pay domestic rates of pay - C-341/05 ECJ 18.12.07

This case follows on from International Transport Workers' Federation & Anor v Viking Line ABP C-438/05. Latvian workers were posted to work at Swedish electricity plants. Swedish trade unions blockaded the works to force the Latvian company to sign a collective agreement, which would have given terms and conditions more favourable than in Swedish law.
