Habelt, Moser & Wachter v Deutsche Rentenversicherung Bund - old-age benefit rules on overseas contributions breach freedom of movement - C-396/05, 419/05, 450/05 ECJ 18.12.07

Social security contributions were made by Habelt and Moser in "overseas territories" between 1937 and 1945 (such as the Sudetenland and Pomerania). At the time they were subject to German Reich legislation but are now not part of Germany. Wachter contributed while he worked in Romania.
