Rorison v United Kingdom - no sex discrimination in refusal to pay man Widowed Mother's Allowance where he was not in receipt of child benefit since a woman would be treated identically - ECtHR 29.4.08

Mr Rorison was refused Widowed Mother's Allowance (WMA) under pre-2000 regulations because he was a woman. His claim that this amounted to sex discrimination has been dismissed by ECtHR however. Although in principle he might have a valid claim, on the facts of his case there was in fact no discrimination.
