Hubley v United Kingdom - sex discrimination and widow's benefits and pension - ECtHR 8.8.08

Further cases from the ECtHR on the subject of Widow's Bereavement Allowance (WBA) Widow's Pension (WP), and the sex discrimination inherent in the UK Government's pre-2000 policy of refusing to pay these benefits to a man.

In this case the Court noted that the UK Government had settled Mr Hubley's Widowed Mother's Allowance (WMA) claim, and so it dismissed this. It confirmed that there was discrimination in the WBA claim, and awarded Mr Hubley 600 Euros for his costs.
