Russell Young & Co v Brown & Ors - costs in group actions - CA 31.1.07

A dispute arose relating to costs following claims of negligence against the solicitors who acted for various miners in white finger vibration claims they brought against British Coad. The point of general interest is that the Court of Appeal has ruled that where generic or group costs are in point it is no more than desirable that solicitors claiming costs (against the Solicitors Indemnity Fund or others) should record the number of individuals for whom they are acting at any time in order to show that the proportion of costs claimed in respect of any individual client is justified.
