In this case 7 representative claimants of some 700 employees in the textile industry in Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire failed in an attempt to claim damages following long exposure to noise. In an unsuccessful attempt to extend the generally accepted levels at which employers are likely to have liability they claimed that noise levels to which they had been subjected at work were excessive even though less than 90dB(A).
