Cummins v United Kingdom - sex discrimination in refusal to pay Widow's Payments to a man, but not in refusing Widow's Pension - ECtHR 1.4.08

The ECtHR upheld Mr Cummins's claim that the refusal to pay him Widow's Payments because he was a man was unlawful sex discrimination in breach of ECHR Article 14. However it declined to award him any compensation.

It also confirmed that there was no discrimination in the refusal to pay him Widow's Pension (see Nelson v UK elsewhere in this web-updater for fuller details).
