The French Supreme Court has held that the same sex civil partner of a new mother cannot claim paternity leave (contrast the linguistically bizarre situation in the UK where a woman can be entitled to paternity leave if her same sex partner is the mother of a child - see Paternity and Adoption Leave Regulations 2002 SI 2002/2788 reg 4(2)(b) and (c)).
