Hunt & Miller v United Kingdom - settlement of armed forces homosexual claims

Messrs Hunt & Miller were both dismissed from the Royal Navy on the grounds of their homosexuality. Like many other service personnel in similar circumstances, although obliged to drop their domestic proceedings under the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 on the grounds that it did not cover sexual orientation, they brought claims alleging breach of their human rights, in particular infringement of their Article 8 rights to respect for private and family life.
