Burton v HMRC - in absence of P45 employer correctly deducted tax at basic rate only: employee liable for tax shortfall

If an employer fails to deduct, under PAYE, the correct amount of tax, an employee who seeks to avoid liability for the unpaid tax must prove that he provided his employer with the necessary and proper documentation (eg P45) to enable the employer to correctly operate PAYE.
