Barts and the London NHS Trust v Verma - rational interpretation of pay-protection scheme terms and conditions

It would seem irrational and wholly contrary to the purpose of a pay protection regime to construe its terms as requiring that the recipient of such pay should receive far more than they earned - or ever could have earned - in their previous role.
