R (E) v Governing Body of JFS & Another - refusal to admit pupil due to ethnic origins constitutes unlawful race discrimination
The Supreme Court, in a (5 to 4) majority judgment, dismissed the JFS's appeal, and confirmed that the refusal to admit a pupil, on the grounds that he was not descended from a woman recognised as Jewish, was direct race discrimination.
