Davies v Wm Morrison Supermarkets Plc & ors - Court of Appeal 25.4.07

Mr Davies, a haulage driver, had a delivery note returned to him by a Morrison's employee marked 'goods unchecked' and 'driver banned from any Morrisons site'. Since he was obliged to pass the note to his own employer, he brought a claim in defamation against both Morrison and the employee concerned, alleging that the offending words had damaged him in his livelihood. His claim failed at first instance because the wrong employee had been identified as the "culprit".
