Following a serious injury at work in 1996, maintenance engineer Thomas Corr underwent extensive surgery. He suffered serious depression and eventually, in May 2002, committed suicide. IBC admitted negligence. His widow was awarded £85,000 damages, but the court rejected her claim under the Fatal Accidents Act 1976.
