Dismissal of a hospital doctor - Hameed v Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

A relatively minor procedural error by an NHS Trust in the process leading up to dismissal of a doctor for gross misconduct will not invalidate the dismissal.

Dr Hameed worked for Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a staff grade ophthalmologist at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. Her eventual dismissal by the Trust on 15th October 2008 was based on incidents which had occurred in the previous June.
