Ladele & McFarlane v the United Kingdom - same-sex couples religious discrimination complaints commenced before ECtHR

The Supreme Court having refused leave to appeal, and having thus exhausted their domestic remedies (as required), both Ms Ladele and Mr McFarlane have now taken their claims to the European Court of Human Rights, which has joined the cases.

Both these cases involve the conflict between respect for religious beliefs and respect for sexual orientation, in that the former was the reason given by both claimants for their refusal to respect the latter.
