CF Capital Plc v Willoughby - when can a clear dismissal be unilaterally withdrawn?

Unambiguous words of dismissal mean what they say. Only in exceptional circumstances, where they were said in the heat of the moment and a recipient should wait to see whether, after a period of "cooling off", they really were meant, can they be withdrawn - usually this will be almost immediately afterwards. In normal cases they amount to a repudiatory breach by an employer which it is unable to unilaterally withdraw.
