Doogan & Wood, Re Judicial Review - midwives: human rights, religious beliefs, and termination of pregnancy

Nurses are entitled to be exempted from being required, other than in an emergency, to participate in the termination of pregnancy. There is no requirement under ECHR Art 9 (freedom of belief and manifestation of that belief) to extend that exemption to cover the requirement to supervise or delegate staff engaged in the care of patients undergoing such procedures.
