George Blake was the infamous spy of the 1950's who, while still a member of the British intelligence service, became a Soviet Union agent. He was caught and in 1961 was sentenced to 42 years imprisonment for breaches of the Official Secrets Act but in 1966 he escaped from Wormwood Scrubs and fled to Moscow. Various proceedings followed culminating in a 2001 House of Lords judgment in which his publishers were ordered to pay author's royalties from his autobiography to the British government.
