Sapper Sharp was in a convoy in which he was driving a left hand drive 8 tonne Bedford truck back to Germany from a military exercise in Poland in 2002. There was a pile up. He was seriously injured and his passenger was killed. He claimed damages from the MoD on the basis of negligence and breach of statutory duty. He claimed that the brakes of his lorry were defective and that other vehicles in the convoy were travelling too close to each other. He has lost his claim.
