A man who suffered from Achondroplasia [1] (a condition causing dwarfism) claimed disability living allowance on the ground that he is so severely disabled physically that he cannot prepare a cooked meal for himself if he has the ingredients. His claim was rejected by a commissioner on the grounds that even if he could not use a normal cooker because it is too high he could cook perfectly well using a Baby Belling or a microwave oven. His appeal against that decision has been rejected.
