Two former T-Mobile employees pleaded guilty at Chester Crown Court in 2010 to various offences under Data Protection Act 1998 s.55 [1] (Unlawful obtaining etc of personal data). Sentencing was deferrred.
They had stolen and sold customer data, essentially mobile phone contract information, from T-Mobile. On June 10th 2011 they were ordered to pay a total of £73,700 in fines and confiscation costs.
