Suspension of a doctor and the distinction between "public protection" and the "public interest" - Bradshaw v GMC

Suspension of a doctor by the GMC on public protection grounds under Medical Act 1983 s.41A. [1] is allowed only if this is " necessary" but there is no such qualification where the suspension is on pubic interest grounds. In both cases the allegations must be serious but they do not have to relate to the Doctor's clinical competence.
