National laws which (i) provide for compulsory retirement of professors at the age of 68, and (ii) provide that professors over the age of 65 may only be offered fixed-term contracts that are of limited duration and renewable only twice are not inherently contrary to European law: it is for the national court to be satisfied that they are justified.
