Amendments to the Acas Code of Practice on Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures come into force from 11/3/15 .The changes relate specifically to the right to be accompanied as covered in paragraphs 14-16 and 36-38 of the Code and follow on from the judgement in Toal & Anor v GB Oils Ltd [1] [2013] UKEAT. In essence, if an employee requests to be accompanied by either a fellow worker, a trade union representative who is suitably certified or a trade union official, the employer must agree to the worker's request.
