In late 2000 Mr Abegaze won his employment tribunal claim for race discrimination against the College. Due to illness on his part and, apparently, a fair degree of non-cooperation with both College and tribunal, the remedies hearing was continually postponed, until in November 2006 the chairman refused to postpone it any longer. Instead he struck it out on the ground that the claim was not being actively pursued and a fair trial was impossible.
