A claim form must contain a specific allegation of a claim that falls within the Employment Tribunal's jurisdiction or contain facts from which the claim can reasonably and objectively be discerned.
Mrs Badra worked for Gardiner & Theobald LLP, a firm of accountants, until she was made redundant in November 2008. In January 2009 she presented an Employment Tribunal claim form. In March 2009 Mrs Badra presented a further claim and in time the two claim forms were merged by the Employment Tribunal. Her claims were for discrimination on the grounds of sex and unfair dismissal. When those matters reached hearing in October 2009, her complaints were dismissed. Mrs Badra lost an appeal to the EAT.
