Mr. Plummer was employed as a warehouse manager by DMC Business Machines Ltd. He won a claim of constructive unfair dismissal at an employment tribunal. He had had disagreements with a warehouse assistant which led to disciplinary proceedings against both of them. In his letter of resignation he said the conflict between him and the assistant had reached "a level of life threatening proportions". The resignation letter made no complaint about the disciplinary process or its outcome nor indeed any complaint against the employer at all.
