EAT agrees that dismissal of a Christian relationship counsellor who refused to help same-sex couples was not a breach of the Employment Equality (Religion or Belief) Regulations 2003, SI 2003/1660 [1]
Gary McFarlane was employed as a relationship counsellor by Relate Avon Ltd, part of a well-known national organisation providing relationship counselling services. He was dismissed for refusing to provide psychosexual therapy to same sex couples.
